Using 3D video-game software, I was able to curate an exhibition of my own photographs, in architecture I designed. The viewer can walk with the WASD keyboard keys, and look around using the mouse. This allows for the user to have an individual experience in the gallery. The vast desert environment points the viewer to ancient looking architecture with a human shaped keyhole in the entrance. There, they enter a gallery with photos scaled up to be 10 feet tall on the walls. The desert landscape exists to represent melancholy and timelessness, as I feel the contents of the photo exhibit are elusive to being dated or placed in the world but focus on the ineffable emotion that is being a human on Earth. The relationship I have with technology and nature is represented with this project, as my digital space is fully influenced by the outside world. The photos themselves range from being completely unedited, to having artificial intelligence manipulate the context of the image. This causes the viewer to question the reality of the image as the differences are undetectable. The soundtrack ties this human/technology relationship as the songs shift from raw acoustic guitar to more fabricated sounds made with music software. This same juxtaposition is seen with the physical elements of the hand-made wooden desk and the manufactured computer sitting above, allowing for this experience.
